Why I quit my job to start a company from scratch.

So, I'm currently 27 at the time of writing this and until 8 months ago I had a job. Probably more than a job, I really had a career. I was a project supervisor for an engineering company and in my opinion, I was doing well. I was getting paid extremely well, I felt valued within the business and I genuinely felt that I had an impact day to day - to be honest I actually loved it. I was on track for career progression and was riding that momentum, lots of goals - big dreams.
But boy, was I burnt out. It doesn't take much to look around that industry and not see anyone genuinely happy...
70, 80, 90 hours a week, no free time and before I knew it had been 2 years. I was lucky, some people have that same realisation after 40 years...
I packed it in, moved to Melbourne and haven't looked back. Not because it was easy to leave but because I've never been more certain about a decision in my life. That life wasn't what i really wanted, I was so grateful for the opportunity and it made me a better person. I learnt so much. The ins and outs of planning and delivering multi-million dollar projects while also learning how far you can truly push your body and mind when you dedicate yourself to something, and that's exactly what brought me to here.
From that experience I learnt that I wanted to be under pressure - It's where I put together some of my best work. I wanted to do something that mattered, something that was important to me and that gave me satisfaction every minute of working on it.
I built NexAM originally as a supplement brand - aiming to give people that are like me a head start, something to rely on to continue getting them through the 12, 13, 14 hour days.
But now I've come to realise it can be so much more than that - For ambitious people, young and old that truly want to break the mould and operate as the best version of themselves.
That's the momentum I'm building on now, and I want to take anyone who'll listen on the ride with me. Vulnerable and honest - the hiccups, the speedbumps, the outright roadblocks and eventually, hopefully a win or two.
